With only one week to go until "due" date, I am starting to get really nervous, excited and scared all at the same time. One minute I am freaking out at the thought of the pain that I am about to go through and the next minute I want our baby out so we can meet her.
Yesterday we went to see the Obstetrician and she did an internal examination and said that bubba G is STILL posterior and although my cervix has started to soften, it is still closed (not started to dilate), which most likely means that I am not about to go into labour any time soon :(
If the baby has not arrived by the 15th December, we have made plans to be induced on the 18th. The Obstetrician has indicated that a natural labour is the preferred option, and given that the baby is growing and is really healthy, she is not sure that an induction is really that necessary. Arrgghhh what to do??? I really hope I go into natural labour in the next week and a half, but what if I get to the 17th December and everything is ok...should I wait and go into natural labour (which might not be for another 5 days, and therefore around Christmas!) or should I get inducted? This is what is mainly keeping me up at night wondering and questioning what the best thing to do is. I really want the baby to come out before Christmas day (you will thank me one day Bubba G!) but to do that, will mean I have to get inducted....which basically means that they break my waters and "force" me to go into labour and therefore I don't labour naturally.
Is there anything wrong with inductions??
dude, don't get induced. just wait for it to happen. An induction, I have heard, will involve more pain, as the contractions will be hard, one on top of the other. With a natural labour, you will 'kinda' get time to get used to the growing intensity. So for that reason, I would not willingly opt for an induction. Who cares about Christmas day?! it will make a wonderful story, if she does come on that day. Plus, keep in mind that a natural labour comes with heaps of fun stories, like how/when your water broke, how you 'knew' if was 'the time', etc etc. An induction will be more clinical, and even then, it's not 100% guaranteed. It may still take you all day and night to wait. No fun. Spontaneous labour is the way to go, if you can bare the wait! But I understand that anticipation. I went in to be induced so that Dane wouldn't miss the birth, but my waters broke by themselves that night! Worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with Mama L. You know my thoughts being the hypno birthing chick that I am. The fact your cervix has started to soften and that you've been in nesting mode means it's likely bubba g will be arriving within the week!
ReplyDeleteAnd don't focus on the pain, think positive, one contraction is one closer to meeting your beautiful girl!
